This is amazing, but how permanent is the carbon sequestered by the seagrass? Especially if the areas keep diminishing in size.

As with rainforests, if the area keeps shrinking and the atmosphere keeps warming the release of carbon accelerates. Contrariwise, if rainforests, seagrass meadows and other ecosystems regenerate/are regenerated, carbon capture accelerates. Not sure about how absolute carbon capture is, but marine scientists I have spoken to seem upbeat.
